Family Therapy in Calgary

A Place to Be Heard, Together

“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”
— Brené Brown

Holding the Whole Story

Families grow and change over time — through seasons of closeness, moments of strain, and everything in between. Even the strongest relationships can feel stretched when life becomes overwhelming. When one person is struggling, the whole family feels the ripple.

Family therapy offers a place to slow down, listen differently, and understand what’s happening beneath the surface. At Emotional Wellness Therapy, I support families in Calgary and virtually across Alberta with trauma‑informed, attachment‑based care that honours each voice and holds the whole system with steadiness and compassion.

Whether you are navigating conflict, grief, neurodivergence, or shifting roles, our work together focuses on moving from reactivity to reflection, and from disconnection to meaningful dialogue.

What We Can Work Through

Families often come to therapy when things feel stuck — even if they cannot name exactly why. That is okay. Together, we will explore the emotional patterns, relational dynamics, and unspoken needs shaping your family’s experience.

Family therapy can support you with:

You do not need to have a perfect family to benefit from therapy. You just need a space where your story can be heard — and your relationships can begin to heal.

My Approach

I work with families across generationsparents and children, siblings, grandparents, and chosen family — because relationships are dynamic and ever‑evolving. I do not take sides. Instead, I hold the whole system with curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for complexity.

Using CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment-based, trauma-informed care, I help families build emotional safety, strengthen communication, and shift patterns that no longer serve. Sessions are collaborative, developmentally attuned, and shaped around your family’s unique rhythm.

We will slow things down, make room for what has been missed, and begin to rewrite the story — together.

Therapy Goals & Outcomes

Through family therapy, you can expect to:

  • Improve emotional regulation and co-regulation across the family system
  • Strengthen communication, empathy, and mutual understanding
  • Reduce anxiety, reactivity, and emotional overwhelm
  • Heal attachment wounds and rebuild relational safety
  • Support neurodivergent family members with attuned strategies
  • Navigate transitions and role shifts with more clarity and connection
  • Create space for grief, forgiveness, and emotional repair
  • Foster a sense of belonging, trust, and shared resilience

These changes often begin with a single moment of understanding — and grow through consistent care, reflection, and relational courage.
