ADHD & Neurodivergence
Honouring the Way You Think, Feel, and Move Through the World
“When you start to see your differences as strengths, the world begins to shift.”
— Sondra Rae
A Place Where Your Mind Is Welcomed
At Emotional Wellness Therapy, I welcome the beautifully complex minds that move differently through the world. Whether you live with ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities, or other forms of neurodivergence, I want you to know you are not too much, and together, we will find a way forward.
You may have spent years trying to fit into systems that were not designed for your kind of brilliance. You may know the ache of being misunderstood — the sting of shame when focus slips, time bends, or emotions surge. You may have heard “just try harder” when your brain was already working overtime.
Here, I don’t ask you to be more “normal.” I ask you to be more you.
Understanding ADHD and Neurodivergence
Living with ADHD or other neurodivergent traits often means navigating a world that demands constant regulation, structure, and conformity. Executive dysfunction, emotional intensity, sensory overwhelm, and social fatigue are not character flaws — they are part of your unique neurological wiring.
As a Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in child, adolescent, and adult mental health, I understand both the challenges and the strengths that come with neurodivergence. I see your creativity, your intuition, your capacity to feel deeply and think expansively. And I honour those gifts.
How I Support You
In our work together, I create a space where your nervous system can exhale. Where your unique rhythms are respected. Where your strengths are celebrated — not in spite of your neurodivergence, but because of it.
I offer trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming therapy that centres your lived experience and empowers your voice. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. I draw from:
- Attachment-Based Therapy (ABT) — to explore relational patterns and build emotional safety
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — to support emotional processing and build secure relationships with oneself and others
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — to reframe unhelpful thought cycles and build coping strategies
- Mindfulness-Based Practices — to soothe the nervous system and cultivate presence
- Executive Functioning Support — to help with planning, focus, time management, and transitions
