Child & Adolescent Mental Health
Supporting young minds with compassion, experience, and hope.
For over two decades, I have had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, and families as they navigate the complex and tender terrain of emotional wellness. My work within Alberta Health Services Child & Adolescent Mental Health shaped not only my clinical foundation, but my deep reverence for the quiet signals, the brave disclosures, and the unique inner worlds of young people. At Emotional Wellness Therapy, I offer a safe, attuned space where your child’s emotional needs are met with warmth, skill, and unwavering respect.
Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, school stress, peer relationships, or identity development, I bring a gentle, developmentally informed approach that honours their story and supports their growth.
If you are seeking one‑to‑one support for yourself as you navigate your child’s needs, you can learn more through Individual Therapy.
What You Might Be Noticing
- Your child seems withdrawn, irritable, or overwhelmed
- They are having difficulty managing big emotions or frequent meltdowns
- School feels like a daily struggle — academically, socially, or both
- You are concerned about their self-esteem, sleep, or eating habits
- They have experienced a loss, trauma, or major life transition
- You feel unsure how to support them — and exhausted trying
If relationship dynamics are part of your child’s experience or your parenting journey, you may find support through Couples Counselling. If any of this feels familiar, please know you are not alone. Support is here when you are ready.
How I Support Children & Teens
As a Clinical Social Worker specializing in child and adolescent mental health, I tailor therapy to meet your child exactly where they are — emotionally, relationally, and developmentally. I draw from evidence-based modalities including:
- Attachment-Based Therapy (ABT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-Informed Practice
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy
If your family is navigating emotional or relational challenges, you can learn more about my approach through Family Therapy.
But beyond the techniques, I bring heart. I create a space where your child feels seen, heard, and empowered to grow. For younger children, therapy may involve drawing, storytelling, and sensory-based regulation. For teens, it is a space to explore identity, relationships, emotional regulation, and self-worth — without judgment, and with deep respect for their autonomy.
How I Support You as a Parent
You are your child’s greatest resource. I work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to strengthen connection, increase confidence, and offer practical strategies that support your child’s healing. I know how painful it can be to watch your child struggle — and how transformative it is when you feel supported in your role. Together, we will explore ways to:
- Understand your child’s emotional and developmental needs
- Respond to behaviours with empathy and insight
- Build stronger communication and connection
- Foster resilience within your family system
What Healing Can Look Like
- A child who begins to smile again, sleep better, and feel safe
- A teen who learns to name their emotions and ask for help
- A family who reconnects through compassion and understanding
- A parent who feels empowered, not alone
Healing is possible — and it begins with feeling truly understood.
